Colour Management

Available within the MPS Technology & Expertise Centre is a pre-press front-end and quality control area where customers can observe and learn how to standardize and optimize flexo and digital colour printing processes. With our new hybrid EF SYMJET press that combines conventional and digital printing technologies, MPS has first-hand experience in the necessity and challenge of matching colours in this process.

To obtain the optimum colour performance and standardization when using 4 colour process colours (CMYK) and other colours such as Pantone/spot, MPS utilizes an Esko digital front-end colour management workflow. By capturing colour profiles, colour gamut, and colour control, conversion of colours can be streamlined across different printing processes. Other factors such as the use of different substrates and inks, which also affect colour consistency, can also be integrated to match the colour pureness and clearness of the desired LAB colour space. With the benefit of a colour management workflow, print proofs can be measured, settings can be calibrated, and the results used as a fingerprint for your customer’s contract proof.

MPS can also advise in integrating extended colour gamut within your production process. This will provide a defined set of colours built from a complete range of colours such as Pantone, RAL or HKS. Less colour changes and saving time are key advantages of using extended colour gamut.

Implementation of a colour management workflow helps standardize the print process in line with your own defined colour quality requirements, ensures your processes meet ISO regulations, and reduces printing costs with more press uptime. Consistent printing required by today’s brand owners is the ultimate benefit.
