Screen printing

The state of Screen printing in the label & flexible packaging industry

Rotary screen printing is an alternative solution to flatbed screen printing. The label and flexible packaging industry exclusively operates roll-fed product, meaning that only continuous roll-fed printing systems are used. For screen printing, this is achievable when the screen (stencil) is made in a rotary shape.

Screen printing is a complementary process. Rapid, reliable and economical production of the ‘non-label look’, metallic colours, strong opaques, tactile warning symbols, special varnishes, scratch-off inks and other effects are all possible with screen printing.

Specific screen print effects are based on larger ink lay down requirements (opacity and raised effects) or a combination of ink lay down and ink partial size (metallic inks).

MPS offers the following two rotary screen printing units that can be integrated on all MPS presses:

  • Screen printing drop-in unit
  • Screen printing RSI unit on rail
