The state of Gravure printing in the label & flexible packaging industry
Gravure printing in the label and flexible packaging industry is a complementary process.
The unique print effect which can be achieved with gravure, such as metallic effects and high-detailed printing is the reason why the industry has adopted this technology. Gravure technology is only used for specific print effects which are not as attainable using other print technologies, and are typically used in complex labels. Specific gravure print effects are based on either larger ink lay down requirements (opacity) or a combination of ink lay down and ink partial size (metallic inks).
Gravure print technology typically require solvent ink systems.
MPS offers in-line gravure printing.
